@bouders, Thanks. Interesting so it is Interstate Highway now? It is probably both good and bad. More cars in the middle of the Island. Do not tell me they improved the road to Wapio Valley too.
No improvements to Waipio Valley area AFAIK. I’ve only taken the highway once, a year ago, but there were a lot less cars than on a comparable highway on the mainland.
I’ve just booked my winter vacation with Hawaiian air at a discount, it went down about 25% since I last posted here and I also got a companion ticket for 50% off. So I will paying roughly $400 per ticket.

I checked flight to Kona from LAX is still outrageously expensive. I don’t know why. Good thing, we’re not going there.
Yes, the credit card is excellent if you want a free ticket and really does reduce the pain of buying one expensive ticket. 
Glad you were able to use it. We had the credit card but never were able to manage to use the certificate for the free ticket. 
I might try to use it for some exotic location. I’ll see when I retire. The possibilities are endless.
