I love standing in those scanners so those TSA slackers can admire my taut 6-pack abs… ;)

GMTplus7 – They also serve who scan and wait.

I always opt for a patdown. The funny thing is I probably could just walk thru but the fact that you have to put your arms up in the air and hold still for them to take a picture just freaks me out.
Just a personal thing.

I am not embarrassed at the thought of a stranger seeing an image of my nude body. I couldn’t be bothered about the tiny amount of radiation. I am cool with the scanners. I appreciate the efforts to improve and speed up airport security.

I am also cool with cellphones. I hold them close to my ear when I use them. I don’t think I will get a brain tumor.

the more dangerous machines, were removed semi quickly under a silly cover story. these “safe” machines were not so safe. the cancer clusters of tsa employees working around them , just made it easier to make the machines disappear. the civil rights issues aside and the fact that nobody was allowed to test the safety of these machines independently and they actually do not work…,the rule of thumb is never expose yourself to radiation unless you are in the hospital and need to have an x ray.

So, with the millimeter wave scanners are we exposed to radiation?

Ok, here’s one answer:
[HowStuffWorks “What’s the difference between backscatter machines and millimeter wave scanners?”](<a href=“What's the difference between backscatter machines and millimeter wave scanners? | HowStuffWorks”>What's the difference between backscatter machines and millimeter wave scanners? | HowStuffWorks)

I can’t be bothered worrying about this. Whatever makes it quicker for me to get through security. See my naked body, I really don’t care.

One wonders if after doing the job month after month, the scanner operators get naked body fatigue. Or do they still get a thrill each time…

I get the patdown because I have a pacemaker/defibrillator. The TSA folks say it’s fine to go through the machine, but I take my cardiologist’s word on this one, thank you very much!

it is all security theater and provides no value, if you have to play a game it should not involve dangers to your health or the people who work for the TSA who get the most exposure.
