<p>“What a stupid girl, why was she walking alone at <em>insert time</em> she deserves everything she got!”</p>
<p>If anyone’s been speaking like that, it’s really sad. No one ever “deserves” to have that kind of awful experience. I can certainly understand how your past experience colors how you view the recent events.</p>
<p>Hopefully the silver lining to a sad time on campus is that a lot more people are giving serious thought to security issues – and helping to look out for their friends and neighbors as well. </p>
<p>It sounds as though some constructive things are happening on campus to respond. Being able to use Spirit Card money for Yellow Cabs isn’t the ideal long-term solution, but it’s one good start, with hopefully more to follow.</p>
