Alexander W Dreyfoo high school

My daughter is suffering!! She went to Bak for middle school and is in the wait pool for Dreyfoos! All of her friends either got in right away or have been called over the summer. She got an almost perfect score on her auditions, now she is a victim of the lottery. She is so sad…

What is her studio choice and how do you know her score, like, when did they tell you?

SouthFloridaMom,
I’m so sorry for your daughter. We tried so hard this past year to get the district to add space for more students this year. It’s so hard to see kids that belong at DSOA get turned away due to lack of space!

My suggestion, call school board members and Dr. J to complain about the lack of space for qualified students. They need to keep hearing it.

Good luck!!! I’ll keep my fingers crossed for her.

Her first choice, communications, scored a 4.93; second choice digital media, a perfect 5.0. They will mail your scores if you request it.
Now, as time goes by, she is actually starting to get excited about going to the neighborhood high school!

Can you tell me why? Her friends gonna be there? More life left because school is less demanding?
If waiting come through and she can choose, what would be her choice and/or yours?
Say, between name value and rigor and happy easy going fun 4years?

I went to Bak and am currently going to Dreyfoos. I LOVE it. There is no other school like it in the nation. Those who choose Suncoast over DSOA are missing out! They won’t be well-rounded or get the Dreyfoos experience! If you live in Palm Beach County, please–have your kid(s) audition, provided that they are talented and want to go. :)

Hey! this is my old old thread!!
sorry missed “S” from the school’s name and I can never be able to correct it!!
gawk…

^ kid above, how did you dig out this, how embarrassing!!!
wonder what lovely dramatica is doing… I should drop the note.
congrats!!! which year?
are you aiming for Cooper?
you will be sure to succeed if you did time there and trying hard.
see you around!

Please do not compare Dreyfoos to Suncoast.

One attends Dreyfoos for the arts. It’s a great school and Alex Dreyfoos deserves your lifelong appreciation.

I doubt you will find a MSE (Math, Science & Engineering) major at Suncoast who really wanted to specialize in the arts. Do you miss not taking Differential Equations over your junior summer? Did you miss driving to FAU to take the class? I’m sure not and I don’t miss vocal, theater, etc.

There is room for both. NYC has High School of Art, Bronx High Schools of Science, Stuyvesant, etc. Somehow the all manage to coexist. My uncle actually applied and was accepted to the first two. Attended Science and regretted it his whole life.

Best of luck at Dreyfoos! Come to some Charger games! We need the support!
