“man hands” HA! HA! Sorry. I just got it. blonde you know…

Yeah right. You show off. Mr. Yellow backwards saying thing! BRING IT ON! LOL!
Thanks Mr. Dooley for giving us space to continue to slam each other.
MMMMMM Therapy. I feel so much better having just posted a little something all over the place. I can go rest easy now. GO NAVY! BEAT ARMY! I gotta look up how to do that in blue… “man hands” that cracks me up…

aspen,

Happy Birthday to your son! And how nice of you to send him off to the beach while you just went out to dinner.

Jamzmom,

Welcome back! I was getting worried and am relieved that the rust bucket was just the computer.

Checked the link above and its working now. Thought ya’ll might be interested in some live ship tracking and where Boss’s son is. Go to the pull down menu “ship search” and click on “tall ships” Well Done Boss’s son! Fair Winds!

Thanks for the link, jm! We heard from him yesterday and due to plane trouble he is still in Madiera; until Wednesday at least, the poor boy! They are being put up in a luxury four-star hotel and have been diving off the cliffs and doing various tourist things over there. Meanwhile the Eagle departed with Zulu company for the Canary Islands! Quite a summer the coasties are having.

Diving off cliffs?! Canary Islands?! I think the new cadets from WP get to take their first shower in a week sometime today. And I’ll bet they can even see the Thayer Hotel. :)

Why can’t I go back in time for a re-do… I would have gone Coastie!

Not to be outdone by the WP girl who proposed to a fellow cadet while donning cammo fatigues, here is a pic of two coasties in the rigging of the Eagle.

Bossf51:

Is the picture a “pay per view” site or has the academy censored the picture? I couldn’t get the link to work.

Got my interest peaked with the “two Coasties in the rigging” teaser.

Despite my kidding, I think all the summer adventures are terrific. Like Jamzmom, I want to be a coastie in my next life. Like the saying, its unfair that youth is wasted on the young.

The link should work…it’s open to anyone I believe. It rated G don’t worry! This time the lad is about to get down on one knee…whether to propose or maybe he’s just slipping down the ladder.
The kid who took this picture posted over 200 on this site…some gorgeous beyond words and some very funny ones.
The kids are having a blast…
here’s a link to the complete album

Vertigo!! Vertigo!! How do they climb that far up and remain alive to tell about it! LOL Creeps me out. I can’t even clean out my gutters!

My favorite pix - The one with the kid and the gummy worm hanging out of his nose. I can feel his poor mother cringing from here.

I knew I could count on Jamzmom to check out the pix…I agree on the gummy worm one…Acuna can be spotted in numerous photos, often times asleep…good for him that he can catch a few winks in a cargo plane and even on the deck of the Eagle!
Fall sports practices start Thursday so I hope our kids get back soon…even though they are having a blast on Madiera. Rumor has it that the CGA is thinking of opening a branch there.
BTW you’d never catch me up that high! My son claims to have climbed to the very top(147 feet!)…hmm wonder who he takes after???

No mre’s? They have to eat their plates? And reefer on the salad bar?

Actually, it looks like an absolutely amazing experience! Kind of like a Windjammer cruise, but better.

HA! HA! You made me go back to find that one! HA! Do ya think that means only one reefer unit per plate! LOL I’m sticking with the gummie worms. That was more funny than GITR Dunnnn

Speaking of the Coastie’s, I understand from my Plebe that there is a meeting this evening to discuss the Coast Guard Option. He was kind of excited to hear what they were going to say. If anyone wonders what the hey I’m talking about… Graduates from USMMA pick from any of the branches of service they wish. Strange huh? I could end up with a Coastie after he does his four years at the Academy in Naval Reserve. Don’t ya’ll say it! No way! He’ll never go Army. I’ll duct tape him to a Marine first! LOL

Bossf51. Finally got to view the photos. Thanks. What a great training adventure. Didn’t know Southwest Airlines was chartering flights for the Coast Guard.

Jamzmom: Never say never. Your son may develop a taste for MRE’s and campouts. Hooah !! If he chooses ARMY, Duck tape won’t be able to stop him.

No way man. He thinks he is too pretty is his new whites. However, he did mention that the Coastie’s might fit him just as well. Can you imagine? Four whole years of having all the branches of service trying to get you to sign up. This should be a fun watch. Wish I hadn’t dropped my crystal ball so I could see into 2009. The darn thing only gets four channels now. Have you guys ever taken a ball of vanilla ice-cream, rolled it in crushed cashews, then drizzled hot carmel over it? OMG Yes, I realize its only 3 in the afternoon! I’m bored.

aspen,

Don’t hold it against me, but have about 20 e-mails today and I was able to call the room and talk for about 15 minutes. Good news is I didn’t hear any yelling going on in the background.

Well, on Thursday we dropped daughter #2 off at her college. Even though I know she has parties and barbecues scheduled for the next few days - and no one will be yelling at her - I went and got all emotional again. She’ll get to wear nice clothes, sandals, make-up, contact lenses - and all this while she will be allowed to look around at the campus. She’ll even be able to make eye contact with other people. And she has called me 6 times since Thursday.

They are having such different experiences. This daughter has said she suffers from “chopped liver syndrome” because everyone has been so excited about her sister going to West Point that her achievement pales in comparison. The funny thing is, it doesn’t. She got into a great program at a great school and will study just what she wants.

I am just getting all weepy again. I need to eat some virtual chocolate with Jamzmom. Then I think I’ll see if my son who starts sophomore year of high school wants to get started looking at colleges. I think he’s going to start pretending to be asleep when he hears me coming. ;)
