Thanks for clarifying. I don’t know much about ClubMed and have never had an all inclusive anything. Sounds nice.
Turks and Caicos is not that nice. The club needs a make over. Cancun and Punta Cana are nicer. T&C are 3 Tridents and Sandpiper is 4 Tridents (higher ranking).
3bm103 - I PM you.
Florida is easier to get you, so some people can come for a long weekend if they are pressed for time like some young adults who may not have as much vacation time.
@OP, I can’t remember why you don’t want to leave the US but the Turks and Caicos are really close and very user friendly. They use the US dollar as currency, have the same voltage, and encourage hitchhiking to keep down the need for cars. H and I went there on our honeymoon and loved it (we were on Provo briefly but not at the club Med). They also have very clear water and are considered one of the top 3 dive sites in the world.
The Turks & Caicos resort we were looking at was not a Club Med. It had the Sesame Street theme.
We don’t want to leave the U.S. because of the difficulty of traveling for elderly grandparents, two couples with four kids under three and the family member who is under treatment for cancer until June and probably won’t be feeling that great at the end of the year, plus wanting to stay close to home in case they need medical treatment.
Also, doesn’t apply to Turks & Caicos or Jamaica, but there are many family members of child bearing age who have been advised not to travel to any area with the Zika virus although that now appears to be a problem in Florida.
Yup. This is way harder than it sounds.
I can’t seem to get the link to work but maybe check out Asilomar retreat center in Pacific Grove Ca. We did a famuly reunion there one spring. We were about 40 and we had a whole building for our group.within our building we had a large living area with fire place. Meals were in the communal dining hall. Pacific Grove is near Carmel and Monterey. Both areas with lots to do.
My sister treated herself to a stay at the Miraval in Tucson for her 50th birthday and absolutely loved it. She had all sorts of classes there as well as the usual activities. I’ve also heard of a couple of resorts in Sedona that might suit your party, L’Auberge de Sedona and Enchantment Resort.
Everybody loves Miraval. This family has young children.
Arizona is another place that can be warm in November. I know nothing about this place, but it does have an all inclusive option.

Arizona could also be an advantage in minimizing Zika risk as dry means less mosquitos. Plus, the weather might be more consistent. November is still hurricane season in Florida.
AZ can also be quite chilly in Nov–not all that predictable these days.
I have been to Club Med sandpiper several times most recently just last month. The guest rooms are not nice. The “newly” remodeled rooms are barely acceptable. If you have high maintenance people they will be disappointed. However, the common facilities are great. The dining room food is very good, better than cruise good for sure with choices to satisfy everyone of all ages. Literally they have everything from baby food to freshly made crepes and a fantastic coffee system! The reservations restaurant is no extra charge to go unless you upgrade (which is not necessary). All the common facilities are great. It’s kinda in the middle of know where but it is do-able to leave one day and go to Orlando or Ft Lauderdale. If you go, be sure to request a newly remodeled room and go with low expectations as far as the rooms goes. You will have a ball with all the activities and facilities. We especially like the tennis, circus, sailboarding, disco and gum! There is so much more all included I the price and the staff is great!! There is something for everyone there. Think “land cruise”
Hawaii is quite nice in November, but it is a long flight… One of Mr.'s former co big wigs rents a beachfront house with a butler and housekeeper. The brag was that the food was better than at any restaurant. I wonder if this is an option?
What about the US Virgin Islands or Puerto Rico? Are they off limits because of Zika?
I I don’t think they are off limits. Just a matter of finding a suitable resort. Then there’s always the flying time. Trying to get it short for relatives flying from CA, TX, WA, MI, IL and VA
I’m in the process of deciding Mexican all inclusive, rent house in Rosarito (super reasonable in a “vacation dollars” way) or our usual Marriott Vacation club in Newport. I want to go to Mexico but don’t want to pay for airfare thus my compromise possibility of Rosarito Mexico just a teeny bit over the border from San Diego.
I would be concerned about the safety of Rosarito at the present time, unfortunately. Many other areas of Mexico are fine but Rosarito and the highway between TJ and Rosarito are apparently still rife with violent crime. The State Department advises “caution” in those areas.
From the State Department’s travel advisory:
[quote]
Baja California: Tijuana, Rosarito, Ensenada and Mexicali are major cities/travel destinations in the state of Baja California - Exercise caution in the northern state of Baja California, particularly at night. According to the Baja State Secretariat for Public Security, Tijuana and Rosarito continued to experience an increase in homicide rates from January to October 2015compared to the same period in the previous year. While most of these homicides appeared to be targeted criminal organization assassinations, turf battles between criminal groups have resulted in violent crime in areas frequented by U.S. citizens. Shooting incidents, in which innocent bystanders have been injured, have occurred during daylight hours.

Thanks! My husband kept asking but what I googled mostly said it’s fine along with regular precautions. But I didn’t check with the US govt.
