<p>You should investigate whether your master boot record has been infected.</p>
<p>There are other anti-virus products that work from a bootable disk, running more than one would be advisable. None of them catch everything, and different ones will catch different viruses.</p>
<p>Some viruses these days are so nasty the only 100% safe method for getting rid of it may be to format the hard drive.</p>
<p>It appears like I got the whole virus but my computer is still mucked up from all the settings it changed. None of my malware/virus/spyware programs are detecting even the slightest mishap right now… but for example if i try to open firefox it just won’t come up.</p>
<p>fendergirl, did you mention what operating system you are running? You say firefox won’t open up. Will other programs run? I had a virus once that messed up my .exe file association; in other words the computer would not recognize the .exe extension, so none of my programs would run. There is a procedure for fixing this, depending on your operating system.</p>
<p>Internet explorer works, spider solitaire works, virus scanner works, it’s just hit or miss. I think it just mucked everything up. I just have to figure out what it changed. My malware scanner wouldn’t work till i re-downloaded it.</p>
