I hope so. Throughout the book, Saint wants Patch in a way that he has never wanted her, but on some level, she keeps trying. We learn early on that Saint “did not own makeup or perfume” and liked her nails “short, functional.” She mocks the usual feminine “dress up” practices that are forced upon her before Misty’s party and prom.
Yet when Saint visits Patch in prison, the author makes sure to note: "She wore perfume, a little makeup, her glasses exchanged for contact lenses.” And just before his release from prison, we learn that “Saint had sat in the salon as the woman lightened her hair. She had been to the nail salon, bought new makeup and perfume and even some new dresses.” It made me feel pity for her (and she’d hate that)!
