The theme from Peter Gunn: Peter Gunn Theme - YouTube
Yeah Mt Airy really capitalizes on the Andy Griffith stuff now. They’ve got the squad car and the Snappy Lunch and Floyd’s Barbershop and everything. As a NC-er I never thought the TV show looked like NC even when I was a kid.
Funny how that is. Apparently Korea and Vietnam look nothing like California either! I told my husband when we first went out to CA that he would recognize it from M•A•S•H and other shows.
Get Smart and I, many, many years ago actually owned a car like the one used in the TV show.

The Drew Carey show theme is actually “Cleveland Rocks” a song by Ian Hunter, released decades before the show aired so not sure if that counts? But maybe. Cleveland Rocks - Wikipedia

@sushiritto Did I go to prom with you on the Queen Mary in that car in 1976? I have never seen another one since then.
I stumbled across this rendition of the Hogan’s Heroes theme a few weeks ago and loved it:
As a kid, I watched the show with my dad who was a POW at Stalag Luft III. He loved it. He tended to only share the humorous events or ingenious ways the POWs coped. I didn’t come close to understanding the reality of his experience until decades later. These days the theme music is a sweet reminder of a man who remained positive despite everything that happened.
When I was in Jr. high we sang the MASH theme song at a school concert. I still meet people that don’t know there are words and several verses to that song.
In an interview, Johnny Mandel, the composer, recounted how the song came to be.
Bob [Director Robert Altman] said, “We’ve got one guy in the shot who can sing and there’s another guy who knows three chords on the guitar so we can’t use an orchestra.” Bob also said the song had to be called Suicide Is Painless. “Since [Capt.] Painless commits suicide with a pill, that would be a good title,” he said. Then he said, “It’s got to be the stupidest song ever written.”

So Mandel wrote the music, and Altman’s 15-year old son wrote the lyrics.
The film opening:
I love some of the classic ones that have been posted. For a slightly more current show, love this one:
There should be a side thread, TV theme songs that annoy you!!! Because there are a few posted here that over the years I have really been annoyed by!!!
Not sure it’s been mentioned yet but I loved the theme song from LaVerne and Shirley.
Love these! Another favorite -WKRP in Cincinnati
Sanford and Son would never make it past the PC police these days (neither would All in the Family), but it was one of my favorite shows growing up and is still good for laughs if you catch it in re-runs. Quincy Jones said it took him 20 minutes to write the theme song and another 20 minutes for him and a few musicians to record it.
And certainly not The Jeffersons. Remember a couple of years ago when they did a Live in Front of a Studio Audience re-creation. They bleeped the N-word. The original had no bleep
If I’m allowed to vote for more current theme music, I like Downton Abbey (Main Theme) - YouTube and House of Cards (2013) Intro Credits Theme Extended - Jeff Beal - YouTube . They really set the mood!
Of course! You actually make a good point: the vast majority of our favorites thus far are “old,” mostly from the 1980s and earlier.
I guess they just don’t make 'em like they used to in the “good ole days!”
I wasn’t in high school in '76, I’ve never been on the Queen Mary and I acquired and sold the car in the late '90’s and early 00’s.
