Alternative to Engineering

Being a math or physics major is probably your best bet. However, it’s not particularly better. Nor is being an undeclared major particularly better.

It’s actually really easy to switch from one college to another. You just need a 3.0+ (for engineering) on all the pre-requisites required to enter the major (2.7+ for other schools) aka math, physics, programming.

You will be able to get into engineering. You will more likely give up trying to be an engineer before you get denied switching into engineering =]. Start as an engineering-major-hopeful during your first quarter first. You can explore other options as you discuss with other people and take GE courses.

UCI offers a wide variety of majors, although sometimes not as many as other universities. It’s safe to say that UCI offers all the fundamental majors one can use to get into any career or graduate school

Good luck! :]
