Alumother...waiting with bated breath...

I would venture to say that many of our S’s and D’s would say that “we” would never even think of applying to Harvard–NOT on EVERYONE’s wish list, Byerly. Many of the smartest seniors simply have different choices–hooray for those differences, and for our S’s and D’s who are sooooooo happy with their choices!!!

Going back, Going back, Going back to Old Nassau…

So when Harvard didn’t pan out, the double legacy connection saved the day!

So even though Hasrvard was #1 on your list, and your daughter’s, you made a good choice for her under the circumstances.

YAYYY! Thats awesome alumother :)

Alumother! So nice of you to announce here on the Tiger page. Congratulations to your d. And to you.

Choice…not too shabby:):)
See you parents weekend (all CC parents should plan to meet).

I just don’t know where he/she/they got the double legacy connection. I was the only Princeton connection. My H went to UVa and NYU. Now he should have real shame, right:)

Alumother: ‘We’ all know that Harvard likes to admit only very highly IMAGINATIVE students. Some times those students can’t diffrentiate between fact and fiction.

It is unfortunate that Universities can’t recall their diplomas.

(byerly didn’t respond to my post, so I won’t waste too much of anyone’s time, but Byerly: out of curiosity, which one do you think is the better school out of Princeton or Stanford?)

And simba, thank you for that compliment in the other thread:).That’s the sort of thing I’ll hoard away to give my ego a little boost now and then.

Simba. LOL on the imaginative. You know I really am conflicted about Byerly. If he/she/they are really college students it is unfair to fight them. After years of corporate life, I am too used to swatting down people who want to come after me. Believe me, you would not want to see it if I took the gloves off. So I want to be gracious.

Here goes nothing.

Byerly, you obviously have an enormous store of data about colleges. And obviously very strong feelings about certain schools. I second mea’s question and would like to hear your opinions. Information can only be good if we are all grownups.

I gather Byerly is a grownup. Startled at reading his posts, I have often caught myself thinking that they were the work of some young hacker, posting under Byerly’s screen name. I have come to understand that in thinking this I was doing a grave injustice to the fine young people on these boards.

Ignoring is the best policy.

congrats on the decision, alumother!!! i picked the other one :D

Both Princeton and Stanford are outstanding universities, and no one could go wrong at either address.

Relatives and close friends of mine have attended and/or taught at each and all are loyal fans.

I would be hard put to rank one ahead of the other, and suggest - as anyone else might - that applicants considering these schools visit and see where they feel most comfortable. The Palo Alto atmosphere is quite different from the Princeton atmosphere.

Believe me, everyone associated with Princeton is not as snotty as “Alumother” - so I wouldn’t pass it simply by on that account.

3/4 through Byerly’s last post and I thought to myself (wow no insults).
I should have stopped there:)

Byerly: as my parents used to say when we were toddlers, if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything. You’re in Cambridge; surely you can find something else to do.

Alumother and Aludaughter, congratulations!!! :)
