Am applying, but how to upload essay if I am not given application number?

I am in process of applying right now. On the step online where it says upload essay. I uploaded my essay on PDF Document. I was not given an application number yet though, so how can I upload and send my essay to Pitt without being given application number? When do I get application # and how?

You don’t need an application #. Just upload the essay, your ec’s and submit the application.

XtremePower - Also can I email oafa@pitt.edu my essay and resume if I would like??

XtremePower - Am I allowed to upload my resume/EC’s Word PDF document too along with essay which I have uploaded. It says personal essay though on the online application, so does that mean only can upload personal essay and not resume? Or am I allowed to upload resume?

Other people have attached their resume to the essay, apparently. When I applied I just sent in my essay and them emailed in my resume afterwards. I think you only get your application number AFTER you send in everything online, so you technically don’t need it for the essay if you are submitting it with your application. It is a helpful reference to have if you email anything to OAFA after this (i.e. your resume if you don’t put it with your essay).

What you could do is send both the essay and resume at once with the application, wait a few days, and then contact OAFA and make sure that they have everything and it is ok. If not, you can always email it to them at that point.
