I’ll let everyone know haha
Did it come out? I heard it came out on March 6; i might be wrong
oops; got the date wrong
It’s supposedly March 27th- so that means 17 more days until we get crushed by 100 ton rocks(literally and metaphorically)
correct me if i’m wrong but you already have great acceptances.
I do, so I’ll try not to let the ivies get me down too much
and if i remember, you’re budget constrained but won’t qualify for aid? good luck. but if you have great, affordable acceptances, you’re not cooked - to hit the title of the thread.
If this is correct (I did not go back just now to check the previous thread) then OP you should be very cautious about taking on debt. There are a lot of very good universities in the US. A student who is academically strong enough to get accepted to an Ivy League university and do well there is also strong enough to do very well at a safety, and then very likely go on to either do very well in their career or to get accepted to very good graduate programs or both.
Sometimes and for some students an “Ivy League or equivalent” university at full pay is just not worth the cost. I do know a few people who could afford to be full pay at any university with no problem, and then to afford any graduate program with no problem. I know quite a few more who would be full pay but could not afford it, and who instead do very well at different schools for substantially less cost. Some of these have gone on to get graduate degrees from Ivy League or equivalent schools.
How’d Ivy day go?!?!?!?
haha not well, rejected from all the ivies I applied too and waitlisted from Cornell. I’m not taking it too hard though.
Can you give a recap. Who are the current contenders.
Hey you tried !! Great attitude.
Right now, its between UTK and Alabama. I got waitlisted from Cornell, Northeastern, and Case Western(which I added last minute after doing research about it). Hoping for the best, but prepping for the worst- free UA doesn’t sound too bad regardless.
You never know, that might be the best. I mean that’s $380k in the bank vs NU.
You, not the school, will determine that.
Congrats. Your parents retirement will love free. You will be far from alone as a top student at either choice.
Roll Tide or Rocky Top. Which will you grow tired of saying first
What major ?
Too bad Penn didn’t personalize you a good try note :).
I’m looking for something in biochemistry or something along those lines.
Congratulations on your acceptances. As you noted, you have a couple of options. Keep us posted so we can
Just as an fyi NU doesn’t post average salaries but only bands. The majority of biochem majors make less than $50k.
Cornell doesn’t show biiochem but shows biological sciences at $46.725 and a median in the low 40s.
This might be a case where, get past the name, from an ROI POV if full pay, you are likely far better off saving $380k and there’s grad school. Cornell will still be there !!!
Aye, I’m in the same boat (except all of the ivy’s said absolutely not, instead of maybe).
I ended up getting off the waitlist at Cornell!! I’m going as a biological engineering major. Thanks for all the help you guys have given me!
Congratulations and thanks for proving yet again that a WL isn’t a rejection!! Gives hope to all future wait listed kids.
Congrats to you. Your name was never correct.
You’d have been great at choice #2 as well. But congrats to you and best of luck at Cornell.
