<p>To clear things up, applying under a major DOES NOT impact your chances. Every single freshman who applies to a UC actually applies under a “proposed major.” This means nothing in terms of a major as you have to actually declare your major. You can apply as Biology and once you are admitted, your major will be “Undeclared-Biology.” You technically are not affiliated with the Bio department UNTIL you formally declare (normally soph year).</p>
