am i too mediocre?

no, sorry… MFB Ve-Ri-Tas ,

I had 2 years of Latin at school when I was still in Argentina. My school required all student to take French, Latin and English.

But still, maybe it;s possible to self-learn Latin (at least its basics), because it’s moslty vocab and different conjugations of the words. (in latin, you conjugate all noun, adjective and verb.

Anyways, maybe you should start a thread asking tips to learn Latin~ ^^
good luck!

what type of classes did you take to get a 6.8 uw GPA? Or what type of system does your school use, because where i’m from AP are worth 6 points, and it impossible to get above 6

omg… in CA AP classes only weight as much as 5.0 …
GPA are so inflated now a days…
what state do you live in??

Alpha143 and pikaso,

I live in Florida. In my county, our GPA’s are weighted in this way:

Unweighted GPA + “Honors Points” + “AP/IB Points”

Honors Points are dished out as .04 per semester
AP or IB points are .08 per semester.

As you can imagine, GPA’s can get above 7 and even 8 by the end of Senior year, given that you take enough AP courses. I will have taken 16 by the end of Senior year and I am enrolled in IB as well.

Don’t try that “English has evolved” stuff with me. Pick up a grammar book, and you will see that modification rules have NOT gone away.

What can I say? It bothers me. Perhaps it is just one of those grammatical rules obvious only to me. Anyway, I won’t bring it up anymore.

By 77 students, precisely. However, it doesn’t really have the “wow factor” as it is the only high school in the Elizabeth district, whereas Belmont SENIOR (not simply “Belmont”) is one of hundreds of overcrowed schools in Los Angeles County (which serves approximately 740,000 students… I shudder just thinking about going to an LAUSC school).

That IS weird… BTW, sorry for being a grammar-Nazi *******.

whoa… powerrangers … that’s an awsome system!! If my GPA is calculated that way, I’ll be having a “12” GPA now…
no wonder universities often ask for unweighted GPA…

regardless, since you are applying for Harvard, it’s the ec and essay that matters most ( & you have great ones!) After all, more than 2/3 of the applicants are 4.0 and SAT 2400 or near 2400 right? :P

good luck!

Are you any good at running? What are you times for the 800-5k? I’m curious because I’m also a runner with stats similar to yours. If they’re any good, then I’d say you have a pretty good shot.

Well pikaso, I am only glad you don’t go to my school  Here some of us (myself included) will have taken 16-20 AP’s by the end of Senior year and that will barely get us close to a 9!

cory123, I am not that great at running, but I am better than the other people on the team. Since we’re an public IB school, we are not particularly known for our athletics programs, XC included. My best 800 time is 2:08 and my best 5k time is just under 19 minutes.

hm…wont get you recruited, but 2:08 isn’t bad. You’ll still have something to show for all your work.

good scores, good EC, few leaderships, good employment, no hook (?).

40% chance SCEA

cory123, yes i realize that 18 whatever isnt world class lol. But i do try. unfortunately thats my best

Bobert, yeah i realize theres no hook. thats my greatest worry
