Amber Alerts

<p>

<p>Actually, the WEA system (including Amber Alerts) over-rides the Do Not Disturb Settings.</p>

<p>Interesting… My phone did not make a peep (was set to vibrate). Just a silent popup on th screen.</p>

<p>This sound stuff definitely needs to be sorted out and solved.</p>

<p>We didn’t get amber alerts about this incident, perhaps because our location setting is on and we are over 2500 miles away. We don’t get weather alerts during do not disturb times. Have not gotten an amber alert, tho it is on fur this iphone5 , tho I could easily turn it off by flipping switch in settings.</p>

<p>This is probably why I got mine: even though my location notification services was turned off, I was connected to the internet via my co’s Wi-Fi and network in CA.</p>

<p>[Amber</a> Alerts: How successful have they been in saving abducted kids?](<a href=“http://news.yahoo.com/amber-alerts-successful-saving-abducted-kids-173806611.html]Amber”>http://news.yahoo.com/amber-alerts-successful-saving-abducted-kids-173806611.html)</p>

I know this thread is old …but a couple days ago my phone and everyone else in the office had that alarm go off and it was pouring rain/thundering…I thought it was a tornado warning and it was actually very eerie having everyone’s phone suddenly make that emergency alert sound. it was an amber alert for something about 100 miles away.

I turned the alerts off on my phone. We were getting them then we were in a different time zone 1000s of miles away–high surf warnings for Oahu when on East Coast!
