I agree only I think, in more frank terms, Clark laid a much bigger egg with his single than did Nick.
Voters, in true “what have you done for me lately” fashion, may only remember the last songs. Even though I want Clark to win, I think Nick may have just had the biggest comeback in Idol history.
I think Nick just stole the victory… but hope I’m wrong.
And, we didn’t see the usual coin toss to see who sings first/last. Wonder if that happened???
In the end, I want what is best and makes Clark happiest, but a part of me wants him to win and stick it to Scott and the show who I feel have done him a disservice the last few weeks with the Nick pimping (yes he has improved in his stage presence but his voice style is still nothing out of the ordinary - IMO!) and that awful, awful, coronation song that could have been written for any generic singer with no regard for his style.
However, Clark may be very happy to NOT have to deal with Scott and may hope that someone else in Nashville is good to him and helps him get a kickstart after the tour.
Okay…is it just this crappy hotel TV, or does AI sound pretty awful today?
Uh…interesting booty dancers, but a little inappropriate. Oh. Look, it’s a JLO song. Give me a break! Dumbest lyrics, EVER! Mommy mommy mommy, daddy daddy daddy. Groan!!
Being the perennial front runner is tough. Happened on the Voice last year and the last song did both in. That single by Clark was just as horrendous as Matt/Adam musical creation.
A crowd pleaser necked both of them.
With the iTunes bonus, it should not happen next week, but having to sing original songs and duets might make things interesting.
By the way, they should let this dead horse of a show die THIS year. It is beyond awful on all levels, and especially every time Porchetta intervened. I know it is not his name, by the way. Some people should remain in the darkness of a studio and never come out.
I thought the sound was pretty off, especially the mics for the contestants. Maybe that was on purpose as most of them sounded pretty awful. I enjoyed Rayvon and Jamie and thought Nick did well with that last guy (sorry, my memory is lacking), but I missed about 30 minutes and did not see all the contestants. Jax was bad, imo, but at least she got to say goodbye instead of just disappearing into oblivion.
The Jax exit I still don’t get. Not sure what I thought about her act with Steven Tyler … It was a frenzy, and she did show a lot of enthusiasm. I thought Rayvon did a nice job. I saw the young country girl with long blonde hair struggling with the moves of a funk-like R&B song. Little Daniel was cute and impressed me with his bravery in trying some moves, but he is so young. I also still like that guy with the nose ring that dresses out there. With some maturity he could develop nicely.
I fast forwarded through parts of the show as it was long, but I always enjoy seeing these contestants get on stage one more time. For some, it confirms why they couldn’t win, and for others you see glimpses of their futures on stage.
I also did not see all the show. Came home about 10:15 pm and went directly to the end of the show to see who won and then started at the beginning FF’ding here and there and got through about half the show.
Congrats to Nick. Not my choice for a winner, but best of luck to him! Loved Clark’s first tweet after the show:
“I don’t know what the future holds, but I know who holds the future.”
This seems to define who he is. He brought me lots of enjoyment this season!!!
The consensus seems to be that Jax got totally screwed on Tuesday night (agreed!) and last night with Stephen Tyler overshadowing her performance???
Though the Jacksons left much to be desired, I thought Tiana did a great job of mastering song/dance together. And she seemed pleased as punch. Good for her.
New Kids and Daniel??? TRAINWRECK. Seeing/hearing Daniel again last night was an eye opening reminder of how not ready he was for this show.
Ricky Martin, always fun(ny) to watch. Fall Out Boy was good.
I have maintained all season that Scott creeped me out. One of those things you can’t totally put your finger on. Not so sure he will be back next season. BRING BACK JIMMY FOR THE FINAL SEASON PLEASE!!!
Yes, abasket, bring back Jimmy! I would love to see Simon Cowell also!! In my dreams, I know…
I think the final season could attract a lot of really great talent. One last shot. It began with Kelly Clarkson and ends with?
I FF’d through most of the show also. I have to admit, though, I really liked the first song that the judges did together. Thought JLo sounded surprisingly good. Didn’t think she sounded as good on the second. Love watching and listening to Keith on his guitar. What a talent. It was a nice touch seeing wife Nicole in the audience supporting him.
This thread has been a lot of fun and very enjoyable. Helps make up for the lackluster talent pool this season.
There MUST be a summer tv show thread for something, right???
I can’t remember where I read it, (here? elsewhere?) - a rumor that Simon Cowell is developing another singing show to debut in America a year after Idol ends. American Idol 2.0???
I think the first edition(s) of X-factor was fine. Same for AGT. The problem starts when they change the format and bring in horrible judges like that crass Paulina Rubio. By the end, X-factor was a ghost of itself.
So far, The Voice has remained “fresh” but it remains to be seen how much more they can extract from the judges. The contestants are really afterthoughts.
^ Right on that account! I am biased because I liked Josh and thought he was robbed by the producers. I do, however, like the “flames” part in terms of the comments of judges like Simon. All the other shows are over-complimentary. You’d think that all contestants are the new Adele while they sound horrendous. It would help the remaining shows to have someone say “Well, that was bloody awful!”
