<p>sunny- Thanks for posting the link. Now I can see how they did it. And also why they chose that particular clip. The clip has a black background throughout (except for the red lights which say Elvis, which can also be easily taken care of). It’s very easy to “extract” Elvis from the clip and composite him into one with Celine. The key is to match the camera boom movements of the Celine performance with the original Elvis performance. If you compare the final American Idol shot with the original Elvis, you can see these matching camera movements.</p>

The link you originally posted has been removed, but I remember looking at the two different Elvis clips and thinking that they changed Elvis’s red neckerchief thing (in the old clip) to a tie (in the American Idol clip) . But now I can’t accesss the Idol clip to compare. Does anyone have access to the Idol duet?</p>
