Yes, I’m asking for LOTS of fin aid. In fact, I’ll probably only be able to pay 10k max each year, so I decided to shoot for the smaller LACs that are better known for being generous to international students. Therefore, if I had applied to more Ivies, I might have looked a bit pretentious and overconfident, and the safer colleges would be less likely to accept me, because I’d be less likely to go to them if the elites took me.

Sorry to say, but I’m glad you’re deferred from Brown. That’s because I’m looking forward to meeting you at Princeton :).

Well, realistically speaking, your increased SAT will give you a huge boost, and you are among the best students (if not the best student) from your country.

Since you’re an international, and I don’t think Princeton has accepted any Nepali yet this year, I’ll say 60% chance Princeton will say yes.

65% for Brown
85% for Carleton
95% for Trinity College
80% for Tufts
85% for Vanderbilt
90% for Vassar
75% for Williams
95% for Furman
85% for Grinnell
95% for Malcalester
90% for Reed
90% for Whitman

Hello Relativity93, I am from Nepal too. I too applied RD to Princeton but neither my stats nor ECs are even any closer to yours. Best of Luck to you dude. You are simply awesome and amazing.

FYI, I don’t think smaller LACs, albeit any other colleges would have known which colleges you applied to? Common App system’s privacy policy is to prevent and preserve such information from leaking.

Good Luck Sir. You certainly will make it to one of the best…

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the positive responses. As far as I have heard, there seems to be only one Nepali student at Princeton. I may be wrong, but I heard Princeton didn’t take any Nepalis last year, so I’m not too sure about myself. However, I really don’t know how last year’s students were, and I don’t know the stats of the Nepali that did get into Princeton, so there isn’t an accurate way to measure my chances.

I’ll be competing with internationals from other countries too, right?

Princeton’s my first choice, so I really hope they’ll take me! Fingers crossed!

@specific: Thanks man, I’m sure you’re awesome too! I don’t know about the privacy policies, but I heard that the colleges have their own network thing and they can find out in one way or another. Again, I may be wrong and probably am.

Oh yeah, I’m sorry but I might have failed to mention in the first post that I’m applying for lots of financial aid, so please don’t be misled. I probably don’t have that much of chance in any of the aforementioned colleges due to the need-aware international aid factor. Princeton says they’re need-blind for internationals, but I’m not too sure if that’s gonna help a lot. Any comments?

They are very need-blind and generous!
They are very cool about it. I am talking from experience ![]()
I think I started loving the school for real only when I saw my aid package haha. It felt nice to know that they had that much faith in me to put it to good use:)

@ reality93 : hi I am from India man…awesome profile I hope even I get in…I too am an aspiring student …I do have some achievements but let’s hope for the best!!! If ppl with 1500 in the Sat have got in!! Then u have big chances !!! Anyway my sat are not so hight will be giving again…one of the many things I have achieved is a guinness world record for a dance performance…will that be a plus??? Will that help…I do have more achievements…like I have taken part In mock united Nations conference!!! Been a prefect in my school twice and a vice house captain once, I study I Kuwait a small country I. The gulf…so I am an international student right?? Will that also help in anyway?? I know u started this thread for clearing ur doubts but sorry!!! Even I got excited looking at ur profile!!! Hope u get In soon and I get to meet u there!!!

@ shreepriya: the Guinness world record will be a HUGE asset on your application. I know a person with average/below average stats who has a Guinness world record, and he got Northeastern university. He must have had good essays, but I know that the Guinness world record is gonna be a big plus, trust me. As for the rest of your application, I would recommend working hard for the SATs, because a 1500 aggregate isn’t going to be assuaged by a Guinness world record. Also, since you’re from India, you will have competition from other Indian applicants and, to a lesser degree, other international students, so you should work hard in school and work hard in your extracurriculars, especially dance, since it is a strong point in your application. MUN is good, and being the prefect twice is gonna show leadership. I guess you should just work hard on your academic side for now and hope for the best. Speachy is from India too, so you could ask her. She commented right before you.

Thnx for the advice…I will work on it!!! Surely I will!!!
