My D, a senior, has friends who live off campus. I’m not aware of them having any particular problems. My D has had an apartment in South Campus Commons since the start of her junior year, which is about 50 yards from Route 1. She hasn’t had any issues. A certain amount of common sense is appropriate for all students. and not just at UMD.
