An open letter to the Class of 2017 (and response to the Dimensions protest)

<p>Not atypical of certain members of “the Dartmouth community”: Denigrating the very professors charged with teaching us and attacking anyone who dissents from the “mainstream” view.</p>

<p>It’s little wonder that Robert Frost and Joseph Campbell each left campus after less than a year because they were disillusioned with the paucity of intellectual life among students, and put off by campus social ills.</p>

<p>I observed gross intolerance when I was on campus, and one can read about dozens of egregious incidents in the campus and national press that have occurred over the past few years.</p>

<p>And, of course faculty with tenure would be more likely to speak up; that’s one of the points of tenure!</p>
