Analysis Paralysis--Which Tablet/Netbook?

Yea, that’s one of many things that causes me to STRONGLY dislike ipad/iphone/apple/verizon/AT&T. The plans are so overpriced and tough to justify. Mostly, I spend a lot of time at home & can keep in touch decently well via phone and/or texting. I refuse to pay extra for texting & just pay $.20/text for my personal phone & send & receive most of my texts @ $30 for 1500 voice/texts + 20mg/month via tmobile pre-paid. Unfortunately, tmobile doesn’t have great reception where my kiddos live, so they may have to have other plans (e.g. Verizon), but perhaps they will go to one of the participating plans that just use the Verizon network. I have until August to figure it all out for us.

Sure wish these companies weren’t out to gouge us so much! The monthly charge makes the phone very unattractive to me–tho I can afford it, why SHOULD I?

Have read/heard mixed things about the itouch as well. Costco stopped carrying Apple when the company wouldn’t allow them to discount the prices (as Costco does for most items).

OK–so far, am content with the Acer Aspire from Costco. Did have to go to Office Depot to buy a DVD burner with a usb plug so we can make back up DVDs of the software that came with the machine. Best of all, I’m happy that H is willing to be my tech support, since he’s so much more techie than I & we’re all better at PCs. Am using the WiFi, so it should meet my needs pretty well, as most of the places we’re staying have free WiFi (we stay at the medium-end hotels so they don’t charge extra for the privilege).

If Costco had iphone or ipad in stock, I may have been tempted to give it a try.
