Rocket Review

Princeton Review

Kaplan

…etc

CB - obviously, the people who make the tests will give you the best practice prep in terms of what kinds of questions will be on the real SAT

PR - very down-to-earth, has practice tests, explains EVERYTHING thoroughly

And that’s it. Kaplan SUCKS.

Here is what worked for me and i got a 2300 on my 1st attempt…

1) RR for strategy
2) College Board’s Blue Book
3) College Board’s Online tutorial
4) College Board’s old Red Book (minus the vocab and some math compenets)
5) Finally Grubers…

yea i made a 1590 on old (790 math 800 verbal) and 2330 on new and all i used were

1) college board Real SAT’s book

2) Dummies Guide to SAT I (it works AMAZINGLY well, everything is explained using down-to-earth methodology and comphrensible diction)

3) Princeton Review set of practice new SAT’s

but i didnt do much to study for the new one, i read a PSAT writing prep book and thats all . . . which explains my 740 on that sec. lol

yea and i though Barrons sucks. They use such high level diction to make it appear esoteric and ‘wise’ that it takes you minutes just to understand what they want to say, and i really did not have the time to spend on stuff like that.

College Board Real SAT’s? is there a new one? i only know of the 11 practice tests from PR

Really, the Blue Book and Rocket Review are the only two you will need.

dont have rocket review. I have barrons and kaplan, but not using them.

i am taking practice tests from the 11 practice tests from PR. I’ll consider Dummies Guide to SATI and rocket review, possibly

I have found that the official college board SAT book has good tests but is quite poor in the strategy section. For example, on a critical reading question, books like Princeton Review will give you good tips for figuring out the question even if you dont know the vocab, (process of elimination, context, guessing, etc)

However, on critical reading questions, the college board book just goes “The answer is C. When placed into the sentence the sentence reads…”

Well duh I know I’m looking for a word meaning X. The problem is that it’s not so obvious which word means that! They assume you know all the vocab. Other books will help you get point without ever knowing the meaning of the answer.

Anyways, I have personally found…

Kaplans has a good Writing section

Rocket Review has good strategies but the math questions are WAY harder then the ones on the SAT

Gruber has too easy math and too hard grammer

Princeton Review rocks

ultimate vocab = www.gotarete.com
