Another book thread - best books with American Southwest as the setting

<p>I am probably going to read more than just one book, since I want to take a trip out to the area, and this reading list is for reading before/during my trip!</p>

<p>Angle of Repose was the first thing that popped into mind also. It’s one of my all-time favorites (along with Crossing to Safety).</p>

<p>WOWMom- actually Willa Cather’s Death Comes for the Archbishop takes place in Santa Fe, not Taos. The story revolves around the Christian Brothers settling in Santa Fe to begin a school and also the building of Santa Fe’s still standing St. Francis Cathedral.</p>

<p>Tony Hillerman’s early novels suffer from poor writing style, but the plot lines and scenery descriptions save them. Later books flow much more smoothly. </p>
