Another car thread

Crosstrek owners - does the wimpy acceleration bother you at highway on-ramps? One of my kids thinks it would be a good next car, but I fear it does not have enough guts in tight situations.

@colorado_mom - my friend bought a Crosstrek about 6 months ago and she feels the acceleration is good getting on the freeway. She drove about 6 different cars and she felt that and the Tiguan were best on acceleration. She is still in love with her car.
Decision has been made- my D bought the Honda HRV last night. She liked the drive of the Civic hatchback but felt for her lifestyle the HRV was a better fit. She didn’t end up driving the Subaru. When she looked at the numbers she felt the Honda came in at a slightly lower price. The huge defining factor was that the Honda dealer gave her an amazing price for her truck. She feels she got what she would have received selling it herself with no hassle of meeting buyers. They took it as is. She just had to take her stuff out, leaving behind a lot of dog hair and hay and straw shavings. It was low miles but her truck had a number of dents.

I like the suggestions of the Mazda CX-5 and the Toyota RAV4 and to that list I’d add the Honda CR-V.

Personally I think the Honda is the best looking of the three and that the Mazda offers the best value.

The RAV4 and CRV are a bit larger and more expensive. I know many people who drive both and love them. I have driven the Mazda CX-5 as a rental and it is a nice car for the price.
Edited to add- we have had many Toyota products over the years. We have always had good luck with them. H and another D both are presently driving Toyota SUV vehicles. My D’s car has over 175,000 miles and is still going strong. With younger D’s purchase this will be our first Honda in the family.

What about a Ford Escape?

Highway ramps here are usually too slow to care about that, but the car is definitely underpowered. My kids drive it, so it is a good thing.
