Another Cat thread: drinking water from tub

Our cat is 13 years old and loves to lick the water off the walls of the shower. She also likes me to put a couple inches of water in the bathroom sink before I get in the shower so she can drink/play with the water. Another odd thing our cat likes is when we come in out of the pool or jacuzzi she loves to lick us. If you put your wet bathing suit one the floor she will roll and roll on it!

Thanks to all for your helpful responses! I feel more at ease now. :)

My cat loves going out in the rain and snow. He is 14 now. One of his favorite things is to use his litter box, drink from the dog’s water dish then wash his paws in the dog’s water. Dog doesn’t seem to mind.
He loves jumping on the bathroom sink and expects me to run the water for him.

Two of my cats are “tub” cats - the tub faucet drips so I thought that was the attraction, but they refuse any water dish as well. I have to be really careful however to make sure they don’t go in there for a while after I clean in the bathroom - living in a rural area I am on well water and I have to clean often (with some pretty nasty hardcore stuff) due to the hardness and amount of iron in our water.

*My son’s cat only drinks from a wine glass. (what does THAT tell you…)

Does your son know that he is legendary on this site. LOL. I have enjoyed reading posts about him for years. :)

^^^

I agree…our dogs like to do the same.

However, I am surprised at that video. My cats absolutely hate getting wet. They would never stick their heads under a faucet.

My doxie loves water…if I’m taking a bath, he tries to jump in. And, he loves sitting on the top step of our pool…just cooling off his big long belly.

My water cat also likes to store toys in the water bowl that he doesn’t drink from. I often come into the kitchen in the morning to find twist-ties or cat balls in the bowl. He also just plays in the water, sticking his feet in and splashing the water all over the floor until it is empty. Poor other cat, no water.

In the summer, I will leave a water bowl on the back porch for the cats. They will leave a dead mouse in it. Lovely. LOL
