This is my first post on your thread. I just read through the four pages. I thought of suggesting very flowy pants as an alternative to covering legs with a maxi dress. These days they have some beautiful palazzo pants that are cool for the body and also stylish. I’ve sen them in some sort of gauze material or non wrinkle linen…that are cool to wear in the heat but also cute and comfortable. They may be more stylish than capri’s when going into places of worship.
Did I miss the whole rude restaurant couple? Not sure what that is! Anyway, sounds like you are happy with the tailoring of your dress, so that’s great. Have fun in Europe!
Hi chocchipcookie…thanks for the suggestion of palazzo pants, good idea. I’m might just look into that. I was going to wear longer capris on Vatican day, but I like the idea of those pants…very stylish…if not too warm. The rude restaurant couple is someone else’s thread, not mine. It’s titled What Would You do in this Delimma.
If you really would like to show us a picture, you could take a picture of yourself in the dress and temporarily post it as your avatar. It is really easy and then you could delete it after a couple of days.
Because the dress you purchased is from Kohl’s, I found a pair of wide leg pants at Kohl’s similar to Palazzo just to show you an idea. There are so many choices out there, but here’s one:
There are also Gaucho pants and Culottes that are back in fashion.
The wide leg pants are stylish and dressier than capri’s and if you find the right pair, definitely cool enough in the summer heat. I quickly looked on-line and saw Dress Barn has some choices…look around! Hope you find a pair that you like that’s not too expensive!
Ok…here is a picture of my hemmed maxi dress on my avatar. I’m wearing my Walking sandals I will wear in Italy, so the whole look could be cuter…but I think it’s a cute enough kick around dress. You know…I will never wear this dress at home…but it’s better than touring in shorts I think. I like to fancy myself a sharper dresser than this…
Looks really great! Very flattering!! Looks comfortable, too! So fun to see the picture!
I think the dress looks more appropriate for the city in the shortened length in the picture than the maxi length would have looked. So good call on shortening!
Very cute, conmama. You’ll look great and feel comfortable.
When I mentioned gauchos or culottes, here is an example of a soft capri that has a bit more style because the leg is wider than the capris that look more like jeans:
Thanks…I’m a high heeled gal, so it’s odd for me to wear a dress with these sandals. Can’t see them very well, I am trying to pose! They look like shoes, and my feet look blue.
@conmama, why won’t you wear the dress at home for any occasion? It came out nice - wear it to lunch or to the grocery store or lounging in the house on a hot day!!!
@abasket , I guess it’s just different from stuff I normally wear. I don’t love it…it just seems that it looks better than shorts. I might wear it to work one day with some higher wedges. I have a coral color pair it might look cuter with. To be honest, I almost didn’t put this pic up. It makes me look heavier than I am. Like anyone cares…haha. I just wanted you to see the dress.
