<p>Bullet lays out a very good rendition of the rated management problem that has plagued the force for years. I ran fighter/bomber assignments at the personnel center in the mid-90s during the deep part of the bathtub when ALO assignments were hard to fill and staffs became significantly undermanned with experience. The squadron experience level balance became a driving force along with the hollow “experience” levels created by boring holes in the sky over northern and southern Iraq. It’s difficult to predict future requirements and I hope none of those who desire a career flying contemplates any current production numbers and rethinks their career plans.
