I looked at the specs of Terro and Grant’s stakes. Grant’s active ingredient is hydramethylnon while Terro is Borax.

Sseamom, thanks for the bay leaves tip. I’ll try that next time I spot ants.

“We were then assaulted on many fronts by ants. I then went outside with the good ant spray mix we make that doesn’t kill them all right away but rather, they’re supposed to take it back to the nest and take care of business.”

Would you mind telling us what this spray mix is??? I’d love to know!

This thread is 3yo. I hope the ants are gone!

LOL!! Who bumped it up?? A “newbie”.

Note to self: pay closer attention to the date of the OP.

Yes- I discovered I had posted back then. At least I still agree with myself.

Even though this is old, I thought I’d mention that right after we bought a new microwave, we suddenly had roaches. I was mortified–we had never had anything worse than a few ants before and it was right before Christmas. At first I didn’t make the connection between the bugs and the appliance, but then I saw them come out of the vents on the oven. I put boric acid under and behind the microwave (not in it, of course) and this eventually took care of the problem. It would work on ants too, and they carry the powder back to their nest.

I wondered if the pests came from the store, warehouse or factory.
