One of H’s co-workers swears by drinking water that has had crushed ginger soaking in it periodically to dissolve the kidney stones. He says it has made a big improvement in his life, so he does it.

My BIL has had it & found it excruciating–he had gallstones as well which he also found extremely painful & had his gall bladder removed.

Thankfully, neither H, I, nor our kids have any experience with kidney stones or gallstones. They sound nasty!

Had it twice, and felt more like lower back pain and nausea than anything in my kidney till they did the CT. Unfortunately the position of the stones didn’t lend itself for Lithotripsy, but fortunately the stones came out by themselves after a day or two. I drink a whole lot of water these days even if I’m not thirsty.

The one weird experience I had was when they gave me the ability to administer morphine bolus. There I was with my hand squeezing the trigger waiting for the high, and all that happened was I felt drowsy and woke up later in the morning. Obviously a very different experience I imagine from those who hold up seven elevens to pay the street pharmacist for the equivalent treatment.
