Any airlines to avoid when flying overseas? Will be buying tickets today

I recently flew United and on one leg, from Houston to Phoenix, we only had beverage service. If you wanted a small bag of Chex Mix it cost $4. And no screen to watch a flight tracker or free bad shows or pay good shows. At least SWA gives you peanuts and crackers for free.

I use Southwest for short flight, about an hour. Pretzels and peanuts are fine. Any flight longer than that I pack my own food.

I’m not aware of any US mainline carrier not serving free softdrinks & peanuts/pretzels on domestic flights. Short-haul domestic flights, regardless of airline, tend not have in-seat video because there’s not enough time to watch a movie once you subtract the 10 minutes during takeoff & 10 minutes at landing when you’re still below 10,000 feet. It’s expensive to install audio-video entertainment systems, and they take up weight and underseat space.

On int’l flights, I’m confident United will have FREE video, food & beer/wine, especially on an asia route. On Delta’s Japanese routes, there’s free sake, too.

We will be in the dreamliner. Ive herd good things about that

Is that why people call economy “cattle class”?

Haha, that’s what my husband think of traveling now, not like years ago when it was a bit more pleasurable.

IDK… Seatback, on-demand video sure helps to take the sting out of a 12 hr flight.

I want first class seat with on-demand massage on a 12-hr flight.

^^ you’re in line after me!

Actually, a lot of fancy ‘layflat bed’ seats in int’l business class already have a massage feature.

I read some flight have real person for massage, is that true?

I just find flying a very unpleasant experience these days. I’d rather drive or take the train if I had the choice.

Amen. Just returned from the airport. The flight was 1.5 hr late, and then the tram connecting the terminal to the baggage claim was out of service.

I rather look forward to flying (even in cattle class on long int’l flights). I turn my cellphone off and nothing is my problem.

I hate the dry air on really long flights.

Ack- ipad autocorrect does it again! Here’s the dreamliner

Anyone has experience with export change in Narita/Haneda? Do the airlines provide the transportation? Do passengers have to go through immigration procedures when entering the second airport?

Re: domestic flights. We just flew RT from Charlotte, NC to SF on USAir/American, and were only given beverages, not snacks, on the flights. Snacks were available for sale. There was also no seat-back entertainment system.

Flying used to be “special”. Now it’s like taking a bus…that happens to be in the sky.

IMHO, service on all international flights is better than on domestic.

I don’t mind Southwest. I know what I’m getting, and they are pretty reliable. And no baggage fees.
