Any airlines to avoid when flying overseas? Will be buying tickets today

You’re missing the point that her vindication sends a signal that the captain has no authority.

That’s a court decision, not the airline’s, isn’t it?

It’s a court decision, but the message to flight crew is the same: You have no operational authority, period.

Remember the crash that killed the president of Poland? He bullied & over-ruled the pilots and forced them to land in bad weather. Everyone died…

Even legendary founder & CEO of Pan Am, Juan Trippe, once got thrown off a Pan Am plane by the captain. No thanks. I’ll not fly an airline from a country that gelds it’s flight crew.

We flew Delta from JFK to Milan last month and were served free drinks with the dinner meal. Had tv screens on the back of the seats. The crew going was quite lovely–I believe their home base is Italy. The crew coming back not so much and home is JFK.

What I want to know is why they allow the bathrooms to get to filthy and run out of basics such as toilet paper?
Going was fine but returning was disgusting. We always have extra tissues with us. Although I recently discovered that good paper napkins are perfect in such a situation. (learned while hiking).

Lufthansa, my favorite, still offers wine and brandy in economy at no extra charge on transatlantic flights.

Lufthansa offers free champagne/wine in economy from Nice to Frankfurt… 1 1/2 hour flight

Horizon Air serves free wine or beer - local selection - on their 45 min flights from PDX to SEA!

Lufthansa is the parent company of Germanwings with the pilot who crashed the plane earlier this year, after which the Lufthansa CEO first denied that the copilot’s had emotional issues, although it later came out that it was known by the airline. I’d rather my airline display more credibility and less arrogance than free drinks.

Lufthansa is a fine airline and I’d happily fly them again.

post #147, I was thinking the same thing. The airline must offer me free alcohol to fly Lufthansa, otherwise I would not be brave enough to book there. Come to think about it, the alcohol must be provided before I book Lufthansa.

I like how Lufthansa puts its economy lavs all together downstairs on the A330’s I’ve been on. That way, no one is seated next to a yucky lav.

I think the airlines should have separate lavs for men and women.

Most of the United flights we’ve taken over the past 18-24 months have had seatback screens and 50 or movies plus TV shows to choose among at no additional cost. Some have movies available but you have to view them on your own electronic iphone or ipad at no extra charge. We can generally watch 3-5 movies in the longer flights between HI & our nonstop destination.

The only international carriers I"ve flown recently have been Hawaiian Air and Alaska AIr, plus United. Hawaiian Air always serves a complimentary meal, except in the very short interisland flights. D is happy when she flies Hawaiian LAX to HNL because they give her a meal.
