Any Chance?

Does a person with a 3.84 u/w gpa(after first sem senior year) and 2180 sat have any chance at all? I can list extracurriculars if necessary but would those stats get past initial screening or is it not adequate for stanford?

It really depends what else you bring to the table. Your academics tell stanford that you could handle the work, assuming that your transcirpt shows rigor. The bigger question is, what else is there to your application? Do you show a passion for anything? Are your recs top notch? Do your essays blow the reader away? Those will be the things that determine if you get in.

Grades and test scores are fine…Stanford is a far reach for most people. In the end, its the EC’s and essays that get people into Stanford.

Demographics. Describe your high school and your class rank and what track record it has at getting students in Stanford or schools on about the same level (hypm).
At my HS (and I suspect most non-magnet/prep ones), your gpa is far too low to consider serious consideration (unless your ECs are out of this world). Your sat would also be on the low side for a non-URM and borderline out of consideration got an Asian.

I think you definitely have a chance especially if you have been taking a challenging course load. What matters most about scores and grades is that they know you can succeed in their school so as long as you demonstrate that all that matters is your overall application which considers all the factors others have mentioned like demographics, essays, intended major, ECs, etc.

Please chance back:
