I’m just saying what I was told by the school coach. I have no idea about any of this stuff. I would have been offered around $18,000 - $22,000 to attend, and the coach said that I would be offered anywhere from $20,000 - $25,000 if I was accepted to the school. I don’t think he is giving me the money. I think there are other factors that caused this. I didn’t know that you cannot get athletic scholarships as a D3 player. I just assumed that was the reason that the financial offer increased, though now I am not as sure.
How selective is the school? Are you very likely to be admitted?
I’m almost guaranteed a spot at the school. It’s a small private college, and I live really close to it.
I also talked to someone there and they said that I should easily get in
Why not do a Chance Me - and we can evaluate this school and others.
But today, many schools are taking most anyone with decent stats - as they struggle for students.

If you want us to find schools to fit your need - we’ll match you - but then include things like do you have a specific location or weather or want urban or rural, etc.
Can you clarify your graduation year and when you plan to start college? Based on previous posts, you are graduating this spring and have already been admitted to several schools including Anderson and IU. If that is the case, a chance me doesn’t really help at this point.

Could this be a case where the coach was telling him what his merit was going to be so he could figure out costs? I know a few students/parents who have seen that as getting some kind of athletic scholarship even though that’s not what it is

OP, Unlike an athletic scholarship, merit and financial aid can not be pulled if the student stops playing. Thats because they aren’t giving you money in exchange for athletic performance.
This has been true since the beginning of scholarships and still is. A few years ago the Denver Post ran a story about a kid who got a full athletic scholarship to Dartmouth for basketball. Um, no he didn’t. He got a full financial need scholarship. I sent an email to the reporter but never heard anything back.
On the flip side, Richard Sherman’s mother was interviewed on the morning of a Superbowl Richard was playing in, insisting that Richard had a full academic scholarship to Stanford and not an athletic scholarship. Um, no he didn’t. Even if Richard was qualified and won a full academic scholarship, the coach would have been charged for the full athletic scholarship so why would the school take the money from the academic budget when the athletic budget was going to be hit with it anyway.
I think the coaches, especially those who have been there a long time, can read a financial/merit pre-read pretty successfully and make a good guess at what the FA will be at an Ivy or D3 school. Or this OP’s coach might have run the numbers by admissions before tell the OP what the FA/merit will be.

Yes. I am graduating 2 years early.
I am graduating in May, and have decided on the college I will be attending. I will start on August 31’st, 2026.
