Is your Algebra 2 where you are or as high as you can go. You will need higher for these majors.

Is there any reason you are limited to Indiana vs. surrounding states?

Cyber is often housed in CS. So I used the ABET list (accreditation) but you need to look deeper in CYBER. There’s not that many schools so you can look up 1x1. I added Ohio, Michigan, Illinios and KY to give you more options. These should all hit cost (below $60K a year):

Cedarville

U Cincy

E Michigan

Ferris State

W Michigan

So none in Indiana - but if I google search it, I see IU, IU Tech. Purdue, Purdue NW, Anderson but then at a DePauw it may be a specialization - in CS - so that’s what you have to look at.

If you looked at CS, just run a niche (colleges in Indiana) - most everyone will have CS. Don’t forget schools like Butler and even Rose Hulman - with merit, you’re likely under $60K (assuming you get in).

For Computer Engineering, I used ABET and there’s 59 accredited in the stats I picked - here are some main ones to look at - you’ll easily be under $60K, even out of state.

Akron

Anderson

Case Western - would need significant merit

Central Michigan

Cincy

Dayton

Grand Valley State

Indiana Tech

U Kentucky

U Louisville

Miami Ohio

Mich State

Ohio State

Purdue and Purdue Ft Wayne

RHIT

Southern Illinois

Toledo

W Michigan

As IU doesn’t have engineering, it will have CS and Cyber but not CE.

Limited but not nothing in Indiana - but if you can stretch over to very close to the border schools like Louisviile, Miami, Cincinnati, you’ll have access to great schools - but will need more heft academically than you’ve shown.

Good luck.

Algebra 2 is the last math credit I need to graduate. I have every math credit I need plus some. I am limited to Indiana because I have to be able to be home to help with my siblings, as my parents work night shift and we cannot find a babysitter. I have gotten into both Butler and rose-hulman institute of technology, but am undecided as to where I would like to go. Thank you!

It’s a big state - and Algenbra 2 might meet hs graduation but not colleges for this major.

Given it’s April and you are starting in the fall, it might be too late to change anyway.

For your majors, RHIT is a HOME RUN if you can afford it. Extremely well respected and recruited. I don’t think you’ll find that at Anderson.

But Terre Haute is far from Indy (Butler, etc.) - and don’t know about the $$.

Depending on where you are in Indiana, some of the schools I mentioned may be closer to home than the ones you did. Not sure where home is - but if you go to an RHIT, you’re not going home. You’re going to study, study, and study - and likely come out with a great gig.

I literally live across the street from the Anderson University main campus, so that is why my plan was to go there potentially.

Will you be able to take the following before high school graduation?

  • Precalculus
  • Calculus
  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • US history
  • Spanish 3 or higher

Rose-Hulman?

I have taken these already. I was in a strange position at first, so I have several credits that I should not have as a sophomore. I graduate in May, but I’m 16, so if that says anything about why I have these but still don’t have Algebra, then yeah.

I might try them. I was accepted, but have not visited yet.

If you need to stay home to help with siblings, this seems to be your only option. What are you asking for here exactly?

I just need to know what places people think are good in my area. I have applied to 3 or 4, and was accepted.

It’s over 2 hours from Terre Haute. It’s closer to Dayton, as an example.

But the placement at RHIT is near as good as any in the country.

Can you afford it or be away from home - I don’t know.

If you need to be home, you are limited - but I can’t imagine the placement at Anderson comes close to the placement at RHIT but I could be wrong.

They place 100% of kids in CS at $87K average, and 89% of CE at $88.5K average. They don’t mention cyber. I don’t see Anderson U publishing data but they don’t have the national footprint of RHIT. In fact, til you mentioned it, I thought you mean in South Carolina. I don’t know the cost delta for you and if it’s affordable.

Good luck.

Still don’t know if there are better ones though

It doesn’t matter what people think are good.

You have priorities.

How people pick schools:

  1. Budget - what if a school was $40K higher a year - who is paying
  2. In your case, proximity to home - if you need to be home, you can’t be away at school.

So those two things and #2 of higher priority, are what matter - unless #2 isn’t exactly true?

It definitely is true for me. Thank you guys for the info!

then you have to go where you can be home so applying to other schools didn't even make sense.

good luck.

How would this high school Senior be able to take any additional math courses before graduation?

@Voidjack946 it sounds like you have a couple of good options that meet your needs. Good luck in making your choice!

it sounds like you are a HS senior who will start college this fall. Is that correct?

Yes, though age-wise I am a sophomore.

Are you graduating early from high school? Or did you skip some grades.

Regardless…if you need to be available in the evenings to help your family, you really only have that one choice.

I am graduating early, though I don’t need to be home every evening. I just need to be home for the weekends, which is not possible if I am out-of-state.
