Any parents with or know of a child in the bottom of their entering class at very selective college?

One of my kids got 28 ACT, good not great HS grades, but he was an athlete, took all AP senior year,
and spent lots of time on the robotics team. The athletics and probably the robotics got him into a top STEM school.
While there may have been many kids with higher ACT scores in college, he is in a challenging major (CS) and doing very well grade wise. He was even a paid TA for the intro course, as a soph/junior. Some people rise the the challenge, some wilt from the competition. Individual thing, I know other kids who wilted.
