Any reason to retake a 35?

I’ve heard a few examples of people retaking a 34, but no one retakes a 35. 35/36 is basically the same thing. Congrats on the score

@spayurpets. They told my daughter she needs to take it because it is the offical test for school statistics or rankings, I am not sure. My daughter doesn’t mind, she is hoping to get a good writing result this time, now that she knows what to expect.

@anitram Ok, so long as she wants to do it again. But the school’s explanation doesn’t make any sense to me. Regardless of when the test is taken, it still counts for all reporting purposes.

Congratulations to your daughter on a great score. No need to retake. Focus on SAT subject tests and other aspects of the application.

She has a tremendous score. She could take the SAT and see how she does, and give her the option of submitting either or both scores. My D did that and got excellent scores. She chose not to retake the ACT, and instead focused on her school work and EC activities without the burden of further testing.

My D was accepted to Cornell ED and they do not consider the ACT writing or SAT writing.

Another vote for not retaking the ACT and for focusing on subject tests!

Sure she could try to pull up her writing score but that component is so low priority compared to the composite score. The most selective schools often don’t care about the essay anyway. If they do there is no way a 31 will keep her out of any school when she has a 35 composite. Check out the common data sets for each of those schools and then decide
