I just bought a Osprey Farpoint backpack and my H a Tortuga backpack for our trip to South America. No wheels but they open like a suitcase. I rejected the Rick Steves one due to no padded hip belt.
Wow, those new British Airlines restrictions on a personal carry-on are really small. My tote that I ALWAYS take has always met the limits, even on discount airlines. Until now.
I’ve about given up on “20 inch” and “21inch”. Despite what the manufacturers say, whenever I meadure, they are larger when you include the wheels and handles which the airlines officially count in the dimensions. I use a wheeled 18 inch, I believe Antler. I love it, but haven’t seen the brand recently. I can pack for up to 10 days - lots of re-wearing
Ugh, I’m not the problem when it comes to packing. My D’s are. Good thing we have a lot of time to shop for luggage and to learn how to pack. You are also right about the weight being a factor. Here in the states, they don’t even take that into account. (My carry ons haven’t been weighed, ever.)
Coincidentally, came across this and thought of this thread…
I know this thread is about a carryon, but how about a jacket for all your travelling needs…sounds pretty cool:
Weight limits are thoroughly enforced by KLM. At least on my international flight. The total weight of ALL your carry ons–including purses, etc could not exceed 26 lbs. I had a small rolling bag and a tote. They had a scale near the check-in counter and believe me, it got lots of use!
