Any summer programs near tristate area?

my parents cannot afford to send me to far or send me to an overly prestigious one, so do you know any summer programs that are challenging AND affordable?

thanks in advance.

i am a sophomore by the way, who is interested in journalism and science.

Which “tri-state area.” There are many nationwide.

tristate as in NY/NJ/PA

What about a governor’s school?

If you live within NY 5 boroughs, try Cooper Union research internship:

[Summer Internship](http://www.cooper.edu/classes/summer/new.html)

Another possibilty at Rockefeller:

[The Rockefeller University - Summer High School Science Outreach Program (Science Outreach)](The Rockefeller University » RockEDU: Rockefeller University's Science Outreach Program)

Both this and Cooper Union are free, I believe.

The “prestigious” ones can be very accommodating of finances. I know that TASP will pay for your flight if your family can’t afford it, and if you would have to work to support your family this summer they can offer stipends of up to $500.

are there any humanities programs (esp journalism)?

how tough is it to be accepted into the Rockfeller University internship (especially since deadline is Feb)?

Also look at the stickied threads. For journalism, J-camp (I think that’s the name?) is supposed to be good.
