S-1 in 5th grade finally shushed a bully twice his size by stabbing him with a pencil. S-1 was charged with assaulting another student with a sharp weapon. Based on zero tolerance policies, the principal was moving to send him to an alternative school for the week. DH plea bargained it to an in-school suspension. It’s crazy out there.

I never thought of bringing the charges of “assaulting another student with a sharp weapon” against the 6 year old who stabbed D2 (never mind it was an accident). Looking back, maybe I could even have blackmailed the parents - 4 years of college tuition for dropping the charges. What a missed opportunity.

Well, it has happened at the school my kids once attended. A boy assaulted another one with a pencil. When the unsuspecting boy was sitting down, the mischevious one pointed the pencil up. The result - perforated blader and an emergency surgery. Thank goodness urine is sterile! The boy was never suspended , even though he did have a history of bad bahavior.
