<p>I disagree with both statements, to an extent. Designating a school as a top choice will not get you in if you are not at least a borderline case. However, it can make a difference for those on the edge, particularly for schools without ED who pay close attention to their yield, and for merit money decisions. Yes, a lot of things change between junior and senior years, but most people take SATs not too long after the PSAT (D’s highest scores were from Jan 2007), so I don’t buy that argument either.</p>
