Anybody move their gas and water heater...

Thanks. I’m thinking about 4 more months…which is fine. The place I am renting has a lease that has 4 more months on it.

I am going to put more fire under the pot:)

Since you will have the floor opened up, you mind as well refloor it with hardwood. Make sure you pick the kind you can step on, as my wife won’t let me, she is dreaded for “scratches”! :)

oops… off the topic… its a Heating thread…

That’s ok…i had a prior hardwood thread. :)

Threads go where they go.

I am going to use hardwood in most places including the areas that I am ripping up…the bedrooms will be carpeted…and the bathrooms will be some kind of tile…don’t know yet which kind.

I’m not thrilled with scratches either…even though I know wood is an imperfect product…

I can’t remember if this was suggested on the floor thread, and I don’t know if your wife would like it, but even in new construction I have seen reclaimed, antique wood floors used… sometimes with a poly finish, either shiny or matte. If the floors are supposed to be distressed looking, scratches won’t matter.

Of course, it probably costs significantly more unless you buy and salvage a building, which is possible, where I live. In California??

I’m not going to go with antique floors. Wrong look for the place.

I can take down the walls, the equipment, the closet …but two thin pipes have to stay… I don’t know why because I am getting this information second hand. I can build a column to hide the pipes, but the whole point of this was to open everything up…

So instead of looking at a closet…I would be looking at a column…hmmm…
