Anyone a landlord? I could use some advice

We have a property manager who is not very communicative unless it is an urgent matter. She hasn’t given much advice about setting rates or allowing pets, though she’s been very good at managing repairs and very responsive to tenant concerns.

I contacted her this morning and asked her to reduce the rent by about 7% and change the property description to cats allowed, with deposit. Other rentals are also reducing rates quickly, probably hoping to snag the few remaining eligible renters. It’s below market value now, but that can change quickly as supply outpaces demand.

All of California is technically still on “shelter in place” orders with exceptions made for outdoor activity. However the governor just expressed disappointment at the sight of crowds jamming the beaches, so we may be headed for a tightening of rules.
