Anyone applied to NYU/tisch summer pre-college program (non-audition one)?

Here is how wait lists work in general…

Say a program has 25 slots. And say the program puts out 30 acceptance offers hoping that 25 will enroll. Not everyone will enroll who is accepted as many will have more than one acceptance and have to choose among them. And let’s say that only 20 enroll that got the offer. The program has rejected everyone else except keeps a small wait list. Let’s say the wait list has 15 people on it (I’m making these numbers up an these are not Tisch’s numbers). Now the program needs to fill five more slots that were not filled because they didn’t get 25 students to enroll out of the 30 acceptances that they sent out. So, now the program will offer five people on the wait list, an acceptance. If only three on the wait list take that offer, they’ll go to the next two and so on, until they fill the remaining slots in the program. When you are put on a wait list, it is a positive thing as it means that they WILL accept you IF there is room after they see how many took their initial offers of acceptance. It means you qualify to be in the program if room becomes available. I hope this example helps to explain it for you.
