Anyone bought apartment for your kids in New York?

dstark - only 10 people reviewed Carnegie Hill to be the best place to live. Hmmm, no.
One reviewer posted, "You’ll enjoy walking up and down the avenues which are clean and well attended to. The Guggenheim and Museum of Natural History Museums are close and many families simply are consumed with the planetarium that is part of the Museum of Natural History. "
Your kid is on the money.

OP you need to pay the $15 or $20 for the annual subscription to Streeteasy. Forget about Zillow for Manhattan. With the subscription you can unlock the sales price history of the unit you are interested in.

Chelsea and West Village have been gentrifying since the mid-'90s, especially with the opening of art galleries, upscale eateries, bars/nightclubs, and newly built/remodeled higher-end condo buildings.

It also has had an influx of well-off undergrads from Barnard/Columbia/NYU who are fine with paying 4000-6000/month for apartments back in the mid-'00s and high income professionals like Chelsea Clinton and her spouse.

The only folks I know who are not paying those prices in those areas are a few long-time residents living in rent-stabilized/controlled apartments or who managed to buy their apartments before gentrification 20+ years ago.

Streeteasy is free now.
