Zaphod: Apparently several thousand (and recently more were discovered) to have had mis-scored SATs. Thus many kids had lower scores (some significantly) reported to their applicant colleges. It seems that it rained in NJ, changing the texture of the answer sheets and the machines misread them…for instance, if you expected scores of x and you received x-200, you are unhappy and may not get in school you intended!
I can only feel horrid for those whose scores were then deemed too low for the college admissions. There has been much media attention over the past month or so. see: http://web.mac.com/fklonsky/iWeb/Site/PREA%20Prez/7B4ED6FE-610F-4851-9BAE-B50FC8FA39E2.html
