My kid went to CA for college. One of her criteria was “pleasing weather” which for her meant…no snow. She loved being there for the four years. Never once went to the mountains to ski or see snow. Went to the beach maybe a half dozen times when she was there during the summer (she could have gone to the beach here).
So…SHE considered weather…and it was fine with us. But we didn’t consider it in a way that meant we parents would have eliminated college choices based on weather. But our kid did!
However, her ultimate safety was a New England school where there is plenty of winter…and no real beach. If push had come to shove, she would have been fine there.
