Tums affect phosphorus levels as well. But I cannot take Pepcid much due to longish QT interval and I also cannot have any dairy. So I do one Tums at night. Makes sense about the calcium-type kidney stones so thanks for the tip.
My gout is back. I have been so good about eating the right stuff. No alcohol, no red meat, etc. But, we had ShawD’s wedding this weekend. It was a wonderful, meaningful, and aesthetically beautiful event. I avoided all alcohol except that the my in-laws brought their favorite champagne for the head table (Pol Roger) and I drank a glass. The next day, at ShawD’s request, my BIL made his signature beef ribs. I had one. I did lots of hydrating throughout. Then we did the drive home (9 hours of actual driving plus a couple of pit stops. I ate a fair bit of sugar during the drive to stay alert. Partway through my big toe started to hurt. Now on another course of prednisone. Ah well.
I think the sitting stationery and sugar may have been more of the problem than I would have guessed. I’m going to need to get to the bottom of this.
Me too! Second flare. I am in a short term rental away from home and my usual dietary choices are not available easily here. My big toe hurts but isn’t that swollen. Second flare after the one July 31 when it was very swollen and red. Is yours swollen? I read that a second flare can be different.
My rib felt inflamed (costochondritis) and I read this is rare but can be gout. All my joints hurt, headache, chills. I do not like being out of my home area and insurance coverage isn’t the same out of state. Hmmmm. It feels more systemic. Maybe my autoimmune disorder is flaring? I feel pretty sick.
I am sorry that you have to pay a price for enjoying yourself even in the modest, even minimal, way you indulged. Meanwhile I am back in slippers!
Sorry to hear that. Hope you feel better soon. I have gotten incredibly good medical advice by uploading my entire medical record (from the time it was digitized) into Gemini and creating a health and fitness coach. I have been checking each time with my doctor, but it has been spot-on and faster and gives me much more detailed and understandable explanations. [I use a corporate version that does not use my prompts/data for training].
Well, it was a wonderful wedding.
I have been googling which is actually AI now… I like my rheumatologist but it’s not like he is quickly available for questions.
