Anyone feel they got tufted by UCLA?

wow DLH posted something that could shut all of u up
and true… many pre reqs are not offered in CCs.
and then again some majors are not as picky as others
oh well if u don’t even understand how competitive your major is to push you towards completing your pre reqs.
hey what can any of us say, its your choice

B in Calculus > A in Trig

a) IGETC + prereq’s = 3.5
b) missing prereqs = 4.0 (Easy classes, but what if you have to get down and dirty with the hard classes?)

Which would you choose?
They want you in and out asap.

I think that GPA is a big factor and so are prereqs. Missing a couple can really affect your chances by not demonstrating your potential ability in the intended major.

I feel your pain, but this is how I see it. I’m sure you would’ve aced all the prereqs, but time wasn’t on your side.

so i will get flamed for this.

B in UC> A in CCC.

Guyy: I agree with you, actually. CCC is really a joke

Yeah Guyy you will, I’m not gonna even start on it until I find time to tomorrow

True, but CCC > UC when it comes to UC transfers such that CCC with an A >> UC with a B in admissions ;)

CCC may be a joke for social science majors, but when it comes down to science, it can be just as tough, or tougher

you go to a UC and try getting an A/B in a science class. its doable, but its hard work. everyone is against you and the avg gpa is 2.3.

I think social sciences overall is a joke compared to physical sciences

runs away laughing :D

At our CC it is recommended that you do your physics for pre-med at UCLA/CAL when you transfer rather than do it at our CC. I don’t know why but it’s way tougher here than a UC

“they want you in and out as soon as possible”

I don’t agree with that that at all. You have to remember these institutions are a business. They’re not doing it out of the goodness of their hearts. The longer they can bleed you dry for tuition, the better.

oh, and I agree with guyy on that. UC classes are more difficult than CCC classes. It’s just as simple as that…

your physics is a joke. my friend went there and that stuff is ridiculously easy. its tougher cuz people dont understand.

I think the lack of a curve does make a significant difference

anchor: Why waste space with a guy that’s going to take 1 course at a time when they can put a new body in that’s going to be full time? That’s tuition + more books + classes

lets put it this way. curve was a 40. avg was a 2.3

Well if you want to talk about friends, my friend is having an easier time with physics at UCLA than he did here

maybe he started studying harder cuz he’s in a positive environment.

well come on, lets not go to extremes here. They require a minimum number of units per semester. As long as you take the minimum, they don’t give a rats as.s how long you take to finish up. The longer the better for them.

Maybe, but I’m going to avoid physics here for now, and wait til I go somewhere else. It might be just that 1 professor here that makes these things seem bigger than they are

how are you guys even arguing the difficulty of UC vs CCC?

Good at CC = Big Fish in a small pond, no competition.
Good at UC = Big Fish, big pond.

It’s not a difficult concept to grasp folks.

edit: oh, and i’ve been denouncing UCLA before it was the “in” thing to do… posers… haha.
