Anyone looking forward to Thursday's live The Sound of Music?

Or give stars who hve never had the chance to participate in a televised broadway show…

Or how about integrate them? I don’t see anything wrong with have big names draw people in…as long as they don’t fudge it up.

I can only hope they bring in Captain Hook from Once Upon a Time - he already has the costume!

MommaJ, you and I would be great friends!

I adore the Mary Martin version of Peter Pan - I hope they stick with the convention of having a woman play Peter.

I, too, hope that most of the cast are real Broadway folks, even if a few are cross-over a la Christian Borle (who played Max in this “Sound of Music”) or Jeremy Jordan (nominated for a Tony for “Newsies”).

Christian Borle played the pirate in “Peter and the Starcatcher”. He was fabulous. Maybe he’ll get to reprise his pirate role again!

I know this is an old thread, but I didn’t want to start another SOM thread - Charmian Carr (Liesl) died today. :frowning:

The article said she died at 73 of a rare form of dementia.

So sad.

I saw that earlier this afternoon and thought the same thing, teriwitt - so sad. She was kind of the face for keeping things going for SOM because she was the narrator for the video they show on the SOM tour in Salzburg and also a big presence in the anniversary coverage a few years ago. My favorite childhood movie and top 5 of all time just because it takes me back to a more innocent time in my life.

Yes, we did the SOM tour in Austria, too, with her narration. The guy who led our tour was friends with her after having spent so much time with her over the years doing the tour.

I also remember recently reading that she really struggled with depression later in her life, and only occasionally would find a treatment that would bring her out of it. I wonder if the depression was somehow related to the later dementia diagnosis.

Oh, that’s quite a punch in the gut. I haven’t seen her in anything other than the movie, but can see her face and hear her voice as I type this. 73? She’ll forever be “sixteen going on seventeen” to me.
